About Us
Hospices of Hope are the only UK charity dedicated to the development of palliative care in South East Europe. In the 30 years since its establishment, the charity has helped over 70,000 patients and their families and provided over 25,000 training sessions for medical professionals.
Hospices of Hope began work in Romania in 1991 and has since expanded its network of care into Serbia, Moldova, Albania, Greece and Ukraine. The charity’s vision is for all patients suffering from terminal or life-limiting illness to receive specialist hospice care so that they can live and die with dignity and without pain.
Their head office is in Otford, Kent, and there are 12 charity shops across Kent, Sussex and Surrey with a further 2 in Scotland. Funds raised through the shops, and the bistro and tea room ‘The Olive Tree’ in Otford, all benefit the specialist hospice development work undertaken by the charity.
As well as fundraising to provide this care, Hospices of Hope also advocated for change in each country they work in, lobbying governments for improvements to their countries healthcare systems.
