The end of a remarkable era

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

1926 – 2022

For decades to come, everyone will remember where they were and what they were doing at 6.30pm on 8 September 2022.

We were in a meeting in the farmhouse when we heard the announcement of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, Queen Elizabeth II. We are of course deeply saddened by the news, and extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Royal Family and to everyone whose life she touched during her long and outstanding reign.

The Queen was a much loved and respected figure across the globe. She was a unifying figure, bringing people, communities and even nations, together. And we were regularly reminded of that legacy during her Jubilee celebrations. Most recently, her Platinum Jubilee in June this year.

We were thrilled to be able to host our own Platinum Jubilee party at the farm for our business tenants. An opportunity to thank tenants as well as offer a chance to just take some time out, to make introductions for newcomers, to come together. We believe that fostering and nurturing a strong business community at Goblands is important and rewarding for everyone.

Over the days and weeks to come, we will have time to reflect on Her Majesty’s extraordinary reign and the values by which she lived and served. I am sure we all would say we can learn much from her unwavering desire to serve others, from her commitment, her dedication and her compassion.

Queen Elizabeth was a much-loved and much-respected constant in our lives through all the major and minor events, developments and political upheavals in her 70 years as Monarch.

On a final, more personal note, we have chosen to share one of Queen Elizabeth II’s own comments, which expresses a view to which we fully subscribe:

“For me the teachings of Christ and my own personal accountability before God provide a framework in which I try to lead my life.”

As we look to the future under our new monarch, King Charles III, we can take stock and reflect upon our own values, and how we might approach things at work or at home with the new season unfolding ahead.

“Being in a rural environment gives you the ability to take a break outside, decompress, even walk the dog”
